Papers, 1895-1941.

The collection contains a newspaper clipping file of reviews of Avary's book, Dixie After the War (New York, 1906; reprinted, Boston, 1937), and her memoir, 1941, of her sister-in-law written for her nephew. Also included is an autobiography, 1895, of Avary's father, Harwood Alexander Lockett, that discusses his boyhood in Southside Virginia and contains information on slaves and race relations before the Civil War.
